Die Rückseite des Buches weist – vermutlich in Folge eines Wasserschadens – eine große Fehlstelle auf. Anscheinend hat sich von hier aus ein Schimmelpilz gebildet, der sich nahezu durch den gesamten Buchblock zieht und im Mittelteil der Buchseiten zur Ausbildung von Rissen und weiteren Fehlstellen führte. Durch die unregelmäßig geformten Löcher in den beschädigten Buchseiten scheint in den Reproduktionen das Bildfragment einer darunter liegenden Buchseite hindurch, so dass hier zwei, manchmal drei Reproduktionen zu einem neuen Bildganzen verschmelzen ...
